Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was the lead agency on this response.
Stage One: Mobile Monitoring: At the request of LAFD, South Coast AQMD conducted mobile monitoring on both the evening of June 17th and 18th to assess air quality impacts associated with the fire. During those efforts significantly elevated concentrations of particulate matter (PM2.5) were observed for a few seconds at a time within the plume downwind of the fire.
Stage Two: Stationary Air Monitoring: South Coast AQMD will continue monitoring particulate matter (PM2.5) at Eastman Avenue Elementary and Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School.
Air monitoring sites were chosen based on first survey results, proximity to sensitive receptors (such as residents and schools), meteorological conditions, and access to power and security for the monitoring equipment.
Air Sampling and Data Reporting
Continuous PM2.5 Monitoring: The site measures PM2.5 hourly.
