Proposal:

Approve Disposal of Obsolete or Non-Repairable Office Equipment and Furnishings

Synopsis:

Certain office equipment and furnishings are obsolete, or are damaged and cannot be economically repaired. AQMD’s Contracting and Purchasing Policy provides that the Purchasing Manager may, by direct sales or otherwise, sell or dispose of any personal property belonging to the AQMD. This action is to authorize: (a) the deletion of the fixed assets from AQMD’s inventory, and (b) the disposal, by direct sales, public auction, or donation, of the deleted fixed assets and other obsolete or non repairable equipment and furnishings.

Recommended Action:

Declare the items on the attached list to be surplus and authorize their deletion from the AQMD fixed asset inventory; and authorize the Purchasing Manager to dispose these fixed assets, and obsolete or damaged non-fixed assets, including office equipment and furnishing, by direct sales, public auction, or donation.

Background
Staff has identified office equipment and furnishings that are obsolete or broken and not worth repairing. Where required, this equipment has already been replaced. In addition to the attached list of fixed assets, there are non-fixed assets, including chairs, desks, tables, and the like, in need of disposal. AQMD’s Administrative Policies and Procedures No. 20 provides that surplus property is to be surrendered to the Purchasing Manager for disposal.

Resource Impacts
Funds collected from the sale of surplus items will be credited to District General Account.
