PROPOSAL:

Issue RFQ to Purchase Compressed Pure Gases and Cryogenic Liquids

SYNOPSIS:

AQMD expects to spend approximately $60,000 to purchase compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids in FY 1998-99 for use in a wide variety of analytical and monitoring needs. The laboratory uses compressed pure gases as carrier gases and purging agents, and cryogenic liquids are used to concentrate samples for gas chromatographic analysis for PAMS and other network samples. This action is to issue an RFQ to purchase compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids in FY 1998-99.

Issue the attached RFQ #2023 to purchase compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids for laboratory and air monitoring needs.

Background

The AQMD uses compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids for sampling and analysis of air pollutants. The current list of prequalified vendors, established in May 1997, expires on June 30, 1998. This RFQ will be used to purchase compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids. For FY 1998-99, the estimated expenditure for such materials is $60,000.

Proposal

Issue an RFQ to purchase compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids for laboratory and air monitoring use for FY 1998-99.

Additionally, potential vendors will be notified from the Los Angeles County MTA, and Cal Trans Directories of Certified Minority, Women, Disadvantaged and Disabled Veterans Business Enterprises; the Inland Area Opportunity Pages Ethnic/Women Business & Professional Directory; AQMD’s own electronic listing of certified minority vendors; and AQMD Purchasing’s mailing list. Bid Evaluation

Quotations timely received will be evaluated by an ethnic- and gender-diverse panel of technically qualified individuals according to the criteria described in the attached RFQ #2023.

Resource Impacts

It is estimated that $60,000 will be spent for the purchase of compressed pure gases and cryogenic liquids in FY 1998-99 and funding will be subject to approval of the FY 1998-99 Budget.
