Background
Following EPAs promulgation last July of the new PM2.5 fine particulate standards, the process has begun to establish a PM2.5 air monitoring network. Under the requirements established by EPA, each state must submit an air monitoring plan by July 1, 1998. The ARB has actively worked with local districts to develop a draft plan, and AQMD has prepared its portion of the plan, and has presented the information to the public via a series of public consultation sessions held on April 21-23, 1998. The purpose of this presentation is to provide a status report to the Board on the implementation of the PM2.5 monitoring network.
