Background
The Environmental Justice Task Force (EJTF) was established by the Governing Board of the AQMD as part of its Environmental Justice Workplan. The EJTF is comprised of representatives from community groups, large and small business entities, environmental groups, public agencies, and others. The EJTF represents a diverse set of opinions and perspectives. Even though individual members had diverse perspectives, the EJTF identified a number of values related to Environmental Justice which they hold in common. These values have been incorporated into the attached document, the Environmental Justice Compact (Compact).
The Compact is an expression of ethical considerations, ideals, and values. The EJTF believes that by approving this Compact, the AQMD will communicate the importance of the values contained herein to other agencies and organizations. After Board approval, it will be made available to other organizations for their consideration on a voluntary basis.
