Recognize Funding from EPA and Appropriate Funds for the International Conference on Urban Air Pollution Technologies & Solutions
SYNOPSIS:
EPA has allocated funding for $20,000 from Section 103 Grant funds for the International Conference on Urban Air Pollution Technologies & Solutions. This action is to recognize $20,000 for conference organizational activities upon receipt and appropriate these funds to the FY 2001-02 Budget.

Background
The AQMD sponsored the Clean Air Technologies 2001, an International Conference and Expo on Urban Air Pollution on November 5 and 6, 2001 in Anaheim, California. As part of this effort, the AQMD sought co-sponsorship from other government agencies and the private sector. The EPA committed funds to assist with organizing the conference activities through a Section 103 Grant. The grant award was signed in October and the AQMD must recognize the revenue.
Proposal and Resource Impacts
Staff is requesting the Board to recognize revenue from EPA in the amount of $20,000 from the Section 105 grant. The grant budget shown below, will be used for staff salaries and benefits, printing expenses, contractual expenses, postage, and supplies to cover costs in support of organizing the conference activities.

Use of Funding
Under the Section 103 Air Grant program, funds can only be used for the purpose intended. Therefore, as specified by EPA, the entire grant will fund activities directly needed to organize the conference. Funds will not be used for expenses during the conference.
