Recommend Appointments/Reappointments to the Ethnic Community Advisory Group
SYNOPSIS:
This action is to recommend appointments to the Ethnic Community Advisory Group (ECAG) of two new candidates and the reappointment of two members whose terms expired in September 2001.

Approve recommended appointments to the ECAG.

The term of appointment for several members of the ECAG has expired. This Board letter recommends the reappointment of two members and appointment of two new members to fill existing vacancies on the Advisory Group. The Chairperson of the Advisory Group, Board Member Verdugo-Peralta, has reviewed the applications and discussed the recommended appointments with the ECAG at its October 10th meeting. Based on this review, Board Member Verdugo-Peralta recommends the following appointments for two-year terms:

Since the appointments are needed at this time, and the Legislative Committee did not meet in October when the matter would have normally been reviewed, this item is being directly submitted to the Governing Board for action. This procedure is consistent with past practice of AQMD in similar circumstances. Resumes of the recommended individuals are being provided to Board Members for their consideration under separate cover.
Finally, it should be noted that Chairman Burke has requested that the ECAG report through the Administrative Committee to the Governing Board in lieu of the current reporting structure to the Legislative Committee. Both the Chair of the Legislative Committee and the Administrative Committee concur with this change.
