SUMMARY OF AGENDA ITEMS
On January 29, the Steering Team held a closed session at
the Sierra Health Foundation to engage in a facilitated post-2003 visioning
session, and review financial and operational reports. After the closed
session concluded, Steering Team members and representatives of the
environmental community were invited to a "ride and drive" opportunity with
fuel cell demonstration vehicles at the West Sacramento facility of the
Partnership.
On January 30, the Steering Team met at CARB facilities in Sacramento.
The agenda included a review of 2001 accomplishments and discussion of goals
and objectives for 2002.
Accomplishments in 2001 included:
- Growth in the number of demonstration vehicles committed to the CaFCP,
- The first 5000 psi gaseous hydrogen fill at the facility,
- Addition of an on-site safety officer and attention paid to safety
training,
- Completion of the Fueling Scenarios Study and Roundtable discussion,
and
- Over 80 tours conducted for over 1500 visitors at the new headquarters
facility and vehicle demonstrations at 6 major public events reaching over
175,000 people, plus the first annual Technology Forum with 30 exhibitors
and 300 attendees.
Goals and objectives for 2002 include:
- Continue planning for post-2003 with final plan approval in July 2002,
- Enhance cooperation with international fuel cell organizations,
- Continue and enhance the safety training program,
- Increase the number of demonstration vehicles committed and fueling
facilities available to the CaFCP,
- Begin a hydrogen vehicle facilities study,
- Continue and increase education, stakeholder, legislative, and media
outreach activities including distribution of a science teacher tool kit
and establishment of a quarterly newsletter, and
- Implement recommended operational and administrative improvements.
The next meeting of the Steering Team is scheduled for April 23-24, 2002
in Sacramento. The 2nd Annual Technology Forum will be held on
April 25, 2002 at the West Sacramento facility of the Partnership.
