California Fuel Cell Partnership Steering Team Meeting
SYNOPSIS:
This report summarizes the California Fuel Cell Partnership Steering Team meeting held July 15-16, 2003.
COMMITTEE:
Technology, August 22, 2003. Less than a quorum was present during the discussion of the following items; Committee members present communicated their concurrence and recommendation that these items be forwarded for Board consideration with no approval or disapproval recommendation from the Committee.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:

SUMMARY OF AGENDA ITEMS
- Working Group teams provided status updates regarding the cumulative total of vehicles counted by CaFCP.
- "Rally through the Valley" from Sacramento to Los Angeles results were presented. Major upcoming outreach opportunities including the Michelin Challenge Bibendum through Napa Valley in September and the EVS20 in Long Beach in November were discussed. AQMD was asked to assist with a program to place CaFCP exhibits in museums statewide, based on our experience working with museums in the South Coast region. This will be considered at the next Steering Team meeting, pending SCAQMDs input.
- John Wallace was invited to present the CaFCP Health Report including results of the workshop he facilitated with Steering Team members to discuss 2004-2008 CaFCP Activities.
- The Hydrogen Vehicle Facilities Study is nearing completion, and the final report will be considered by the Steering Team at the October Steering Team meeting.
- Tom Gross, US DOE, provided a status update about DOE programs and solicitations.
- Chris Grundler, US EPA, provided a report on EPA programs including the UPS-DaimlerChrysler fuel cell vehicles and joint Well-To-Wheels model development efforts with DOE.
- Nick Beck, Natural Resources Canada, presented information about Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in Canada. This included conceptual plans for 8-10 stations on a hydrogen highway connecting CaFCP to Alberta and across Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
- Adam Gromis, CaFCP Program Specialist, presented an informational overview about refueling with gaseous and liquid hydrogen.
- CaFCP statement of activities includes the following: "CaFCPs goal is to facilitate members placement of up to 300 FCVs through 2007."
- AQMD will work with Joe Irvin to develop and implement Museum, Education outreach programs for the Partnership.
- It was requested that the February 2004 Steering Team meeting will be held in the South Coast AQMD area, pending acceptance and approval from SCAQMD. The July 2004 Steering Team meeting will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The next CaFCP Steering Team meeting is scheduled for October 21-22 in Sacramento. Additional information about the California Fuel Cell Partnership can be found at
