PROPOSAL:

Recognize and Appropriate Funds from Environmental Professionals Training Institute of Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration

SYNOPSIS:

The Environmental Professionals Training Institute (EPTI) of Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration has allocated funds to prepare and conduct a comprehensive Integrated Air Quality Control training program for Stationary Sources for 15 EPTI staff members. The funds will be used to cover AQMD staff time to prepare and conduct a 7-day intensive training program in air quality forecasting, developing emission inventories, preparing an air quality management plan, rule development, permitting, and enforcement. In addition, the funds received will cover necessary hotel accommodations, transportation and training materials for EPTI staff.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Recognize $60,000 in revenue from EPTI and appropriate to Planning, Rule Development and Area Sources budget account 69700.

Background

AQMD was requested by EPTI to host a 7-day intensive training program. AQMD is recognized as the leader in air pollution control programs and its ability to pool staff expertise to provide comprehensive, in-depth training in a variety of subject areas. The funds received from EPTI will be used as follows: 1) Morning refreshments and lunch - $2,500; 2) Lodging - $10,500; 3) Shuttle required for airport, daily hotel pickup and return and for off-site visits - $2,100; 4) Training materials - $1,200; and 5) AQMD staff time - $43,700.

Proposal

Recognize and appropriate funds from EPTI to prepare and conduct a comprehensive Integrated Air Quality Control training program for Stationary Sources for 15 EPTI staff members.

Fiscal Impacts

No fiscal impacts anticipated. AQMD will be reimbursed for expenses in Planning, Rule Development and Area Sources.
