Executive Officer
Background
Since August 1995, AQMD has utilized student interns from the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation’s Co-op Program in the areas of Finance, Public Affairs, Engineering and Compliance, and Science and Technology Advancement. This program has been mutually beneficial to both AQMD and the student interns; providing AQMD with part-time cost-effective resources that assist staff with a variety of projects, while at the same time providing the interns with real-world work experience.
At this time, Public Affairs is requesting a contract for services of student interns to assist staff with Public Affairs programs. The total amount of the contract through 2007 is $38,000. The student interns perform a variety of duties, such as:
- Assist with events such as public meetings, workshops, conferences, and hearings;
- Assist with preparing written documents such as reports, brochures, fact sheets, and outreach materials;
- Prepare inventory records of AQMD outreach materials and publications; and
- Assist in staffing the Public Information Center and perform miscellaneous duties.
Proposal
Execute a one-year contract, with an option to renew up to two additional years with Cal Poly Pomona Foundation in an amount not to exceed $38,000.
Resource Impacts
Sufficient funds are available in the Public Affairs FY 2006-07 Budget for services through December 31, 2007. Funding for optional renewals for the respective fiscal years is contingent upon Board approval of the Budget.
